Beanhead Brothers Cars & Coffee

Stop by Beanhead Brothers Coffee every Saturday in September from 9 AM to 2 PM for a car show featuring classic cars, exotic cars, and custom builds. Weekly car shows are a great option because they allow you to get to know the community and see new cars every week. During the event, you can enjoy some fantastic coffee, sandwiches, and tasty desserts from the coffee shop while you check out some of Akron's most impressive classic cars.

Oakwood Square Plaza Cruise-In

Bring some fun to your Monday with a stop at the Oakwood Square Plaza Cruise-in, which takes place every Monday evening in September from 5 PM to 8 PM. Check out the beautiful Oakwood Square Plaza and explore a new collection of classic cars every week. There will be a live DJ playing hits from yesterday and today, along with the usual activities at the park for family members of all ages to enjoy. You will also find many great local businesses around Oakwood Square Plaza to explore before and after the show.

11th Annual Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce Car & Bike Show

This year marks the 11th Annual Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce Car & Bike Show, with the 2021 edition taking place on September 19 from 10 AM to 2 PM at Chardon's Heritage House. Local vendors will be serving excellent food throughout the day, and you can enjoy some live music while you check out some of the most impressive classic and custom cars in Northeast Ohio. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and an auction with some very special items that you can bid to take home.

Columbus

Dublin AM Rotary Classic Car Show

Celebrate Labor Day Weekend in style when you visit the second annual Dublin AM Rotary Classic Car Show on September 5 from 9 AM through 3 PM. In addition to all of the usual prizes, this event has a special award for cars worked on by high school students. Any student with a valid high school student ID can enter a car of any make or model for free, so this is a great opportunity to get young car enthusiasts involved with the show.

Shamrock Club of Columbus Classic Car Show

The Shamrock Club of Columbus Classic Car Show is back for another exciting year, with classic cars, great prizes, and live music to enjoy all day. This year's event takes place on September 26 from 11 AM to 4 PM at the Shamrock Club. There will be tons of trophies for the best cars, trucks, and bikes, as well as some great door prizes that everyone who shows up is eligible to win. Registration starts in the morning, and prizes will be announced at the end of the show.

32nd Annual Country Cruise-In

131 State Rt. 3, Sunbury, OH 43074

A long-time event returns with the 32nd Annual Country Cruise-In, presented by the Sunbury Ohio Lions Club on September 26 starting at 9 AM. This is always one of the biggest car shows in the Columbus area, with tons of classic cars and trucks to see all day long. Online registration is available for the first time this year, making it easier than ever to register your own car for the show.

Cincinnati

Sunset Cruise-In

Get ready for some family fun at the Sunset Cruise-In, which you can enjoy every Tuesday evening from 7 PM to 9 PM all September long. This is a family-friendly event and a great place to bring your own classic car project to get input from a friendly, knowledgeable community. Every week also features a different local food truck on-site and a DJ playing music to set the stage for family fun.

Green Township Car Show

The annual Green Township Car show is coming up on September 11 from 9 AM to 3 PM at the Diamond Oaks Career Campus, with a full day of fun for the whole family. All makes and models are welcome in this show, so there will be something to enjoy for every classic car enthusiast. There will be live music, delicious food, and tons of prizes to win even if you don't enter a car into the show. The fun starts in the morning, and trophies will be awarded later in the afternoon.

Village Green Car Show

301 Wessel Dr., Fairfield, OH 45014

One of Fairfield's favorite family events, the annual Village Green Car Show, returns to Village Green Park on September 11 from 3:30 PM to 10 PM. Check out a diverse collection of classic cars and motorcycles, then set up a chair on the lawn to enjoy some live music on the big stage. There will be more than 50 trophies handed out for the best vehicles in the show, along with 75 kids-choice ribbons that allow younger visitors to get involved in the show.

'Tis the season to dress up as your inner hero or villain and get free candy! The most committed of trick-or-treaters are already forming their routes and strategies for a successful night of trick-or-treating. When it comes time to knock on doors, there are several fail-safe methods for filling your bag with sweets. Of course, part of it has to do with wearing the perfect costume, but choosing a route that is safe, walkable and full of friendly, candy-bearing houses is just as important.

We rounded up the neighborhoods in Cincinnati that are the most ideal for trick-or-treaters. If you are new to the area or want to try some new locations to maximize your trick-or-treating loot, these are the spots where you want to ring doorbells!

Hyde Park

This upscale neighborhood located just east of town is known for its popular shopping district, safe streets and beautiful homes. The spacious front yards are always filled with crowd-pleasing decorations, and residents of the homes will generously dole out candy to those who approach their door. Regardless of what route you take, you will surely be met with friendly faces and other fun-loving families taking part in the candy hunt. For some extra fun before Halloween, make sure to stop by Hyde Park Square on October 29 for Halloween on the Square!

 

Mt. Lookout

This Halloween, make your way to Mt. Lookout, located on the east side of Cincinnati next to Hyde Park, for a warm, welcoming atmosphere, extravagant Halloween decorations, and (most importantly) plenty of candy. Known as an accessible, family-friendly neighborhood, the streets of Mt. Lookout are filled with children of all ages on Halloween night. Make a day of it and check out the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden in costume before trick-or-treating starts!

 

Deer Park

Known as a safe, family-friendly community with plenty of small-town charm, Deer Park is a prime location for trick-or-treaters on Halloween night. The streets in this area are well-lit, very walkable and incredibly festive. Because the area is such a well-kept secret on Halloween night, a huge candy haul is inevitable—so don't forget to bring an extra bag!

 

Oakley

The well-lit, decorated streets in Oakley make it an ideal location for trick-or-treaters. On Halloween night, expect the neighborhood to be teeming with foot traffic! The residents welcome locals and visitors alike with open arms, doling out generous amounts of candy and other goodies. And if you happen to be a little too old for trick-or-treating these days—no problem! Several businesses around the area are planning on hosting Halloween parties this year, including the 20th Century Theater who will be hosting their annual Oakley Masquerade on November 1st.

 

College Hill

College Hill is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Cincinnati, welcoming anyone and everyone to their park-like streets on Halloween. The residents go all-out every year, slinging pumpkins, fake spiderwebs, eerie skeletons and spooky lights on every surface they can reach. The area also happens to be home to Mark Wiechman, a Halloween enthusiast who has been putting on a massive haunted house to scare families for more than 50 years. So put on your costume and head to 6791 Marvin Avenue, Cincinnati in North College Hill to start your spooky night off right. The haunted house experience is completely free, but they do accept donations for the Pray, Hope and Believe Foundation.

 

Mt. Washington

If you're a resident of the Mt. Washington neighborhood, make sure to get extra treats! This area transforms into a Halloween stomping ground for little monsters and their families on All Hallow's Eve. Also make sure to come back to the area the weekend after Halloween for the neighborhood's annual Pumpkin Chuck, where they'll launch leftover pumpkins from trebuchets and enjoy live music, craft beer, kids games and more!

 

Wyoming

Located about 15 miles from downtown Cincinnati, Wyoming is a quiet suburb full of tree-lined streets and historic sights. This year, the community is planning on handing out goodies from 6-8 p.m. on the 31st. If you're lucky, you might even snag a cup of hot apple cider or a bag of freshly popped popcorn.

 

Price Hill & West Price Hill

Just west of Cincinnati lie the Price Hill and West Price Hill neighborhoods, a candy-hunter's haven on Halloween night. An estimated 500+ trick-or-treaters gather in the area on the spooky holiday to beg for candy, popcorn and other tasty treats! Important note: Residents of Price Hill turn OFF their lights if they are giving out candy and turn ON their lights if they are not.

 

Pleasant Ridge

Located in Northeast Cincinnati, Pleasant Ridge is a charming neighborhood and very popular among families. The residents take their Halloween festivities seriously, hosting several Halloween events—including an annual pub crawl and Ghoul Fest—prior to October 31, and decorating their homes to the nines for trick-or-treating shenanigans.

Country Living Fair

Meet the editors of Country Living Magazine and HGTV superstars, attend seminars and how-tos, see artisan demonstrations, and shop the Harvest & Gourmet Market. There's no better place or time in Columbus to get inspiration for your home decor!

 

The 21st Annual Pawpaw Festival

Where: Lake Snowden, Albany

When: September 13-15, Friday 4 p.m.-Midnight, Saturday 10 a.m.-Midnight & Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Ohio Pawpaw Festival is a fun-filled and educational community event that celebrates one of America's largest native tree fruits: the pawpaw. The annual three-day event highlights the rich history and future possibilities of the pawpaw through delectable foods, fantastic entertainment, unique arts, crafts and local vendors. This year, you can expect a full lineup of presentations and activities that will provide fun for your whole family, including a Best Pawpaw Competition, a Pawpaw Cook-off, a Pawpaw Eating Contest and much more.

 

Old Hilliardfest

Where: Downtown Hilliard

When: September 14, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

This street fair takes place in Downtown Hilliard on Main Street each fall, usually the second Saturday in September. Throughout the day, you can peruse vendors from all over the area, including local businesses, organizations and artists. After you've shopped your heart out, you can enjoy some live music, great food, games, a sunflower show, a car show, kids' fair and much more.

 

Scarecrow Festival

Where: Downtown Washington Court House

When: September 20-22, Times TBA

Welcome autumn in style at this annual festival in Downtown Washington Court House! The family-friendly weekend will be full of live music, delicious food, rides, games, craft vendors, a 5K walk and run, classic cars and so much more. Make sure to follow them on Facebook to see what the full lineup of activities will be!

 

Harvest Fair

Where: The Stratford Ecological Center, Delaware

When: September 28, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

The Harvest Fair is the Stratford Ecological Center's biggest event of the year, featuring plenty of tractors, farm animals, a horse-drawn wagon and so much more! Don't forget to bring the best of your bounty, which you can display to the rest of the fair, and some good walking shoes so you can traverse the nearby hiking trails while you're there. Tickets are $5 per person and children under the age of 3 are free.

 

Pumpkinpalooza

Where: Emswiler Farm, Pataskala

When: September 28, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Presented by TWIG of Nationwide Children's Hospital, Pataskala's annual Pumpkinpalooza is a can't-miss event this season. This year, enjoy exploring a huge barn full of food and activities; pick out a perfect pumpkin from the pumpkin patch; take a hayride around the farm; and bounce around in a bounce house—the possibilities are endless! You can purchase advance tickets on their website. All proceeds will benefit the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

 

Apple Fest

Where: Lawrence Orchards, Marion

When: September 28, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

This old-fashioned autumn event gives you and your whole family the chance to explore Lawrence Orchards, a local institution since 1921. Explore the orchard on a horse-drawn carriage, let the kiddos ride a pony, traverse the hay maze, take a train ride and, of course, eat a lot of apples! The event will feature plenty of fresh apples, caramel apple bars, apple pie and homemade apple cider that you'll want to take home gallons of.

43rd Annual Fall Farm Pumpkin Festival

Where: Young's Jersey Dairy, Yellow Springs

When: October 5-6, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Celebrate the fall season at Young's Jersey Dairy this year with the Fall Farm Pumpkin Festival! There you'll be able to take your picture with Humongous Gus; taste freshly made pumpkin donut holes; take a tour of their cheese making facility; and go pumpkin bowling. This event is entirely free, so bring the whole family out to have some autumn fun!

 

German Village Monster Bash

Where: German Village Meeting Haus

When: October 12, 7-11:30 p.m.

This annual event at the Historic German Village offers endless Halloween fun for kids-at-heart. The festivities start with an adult trick-or-treating route at 7 p.m., followed by dancing and drinks at the Meeting Haus at 9:30 p.m. There will be a photo booth, dancing and a costume contest, so come dressed in your Halloween finest! You can even grab a s'more and try a delicious concoction from Middle West Spirits.

 

Fall Festival at Oakland Nursery

Where: Oakland Nursery, Dublin

When: October 12-13, 12-4 p.m.

Come celebrate all things autumn at this family-friendly festival! There will be tractor-pulled hayrides, make n' take crafts, a pumpkin bounce house, apple cider pressing, a giant pumpkin carving demo and much more—all of the ingredients needed for a perfect fall fest.

 

Shock Around the Clock

Where: The Drexel Theater

When: October 12-13, Noon-Noon

Sharpen your wooden stakes and stock up on silver bullets because Columbus's terror tradition is back to haunt your nightmares! This 24-hour horror marathon is held at the Drexel Theater and will feature a lineup of several terrifying films. In addition to watching a few movies, you'll also have the chance to meet Michael Gornick, the legendary director of photography for Creepshow, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Knightriders and Martin!

 

All Hallow's Eve at Ohio Village

Where: Ohio Village 

When: October 12 & 19, 5:30-9:30 p.m.

Enjoy an evening of 1890s-style fun at the historic Ohio Village. All Hallows' Eve will feature a retelling of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by the bonfire, pumpkin carving and strange characters roaming the village. Revel in old-fashioned entertainment for all ages, including fortune telling, crafts, games and more!

 

Circleville Pumpkin Show

Where: East Franklin Street, Circleville

Any Ohioan will tell you, fall means the Circleville Pumpkin Show! The 113th Circleville Pumpkin Show is just south of Columbus and attracts more than 400,000 visitors each year. Check out the parades, rides, entertainment and every kind of pumpkin-flavored treat that you can think of. Be sure to stop by and see the largest pumpkin pie, measuring at 14 feet in diameter, along with all of the massive pumpkins on display around East Franklin Street!

 

Haunted Ohio Statehouse Tours

Where: The Ohio Statehouse

When: October 18-19 & 25-26, 7-9 p.m.

See the iconic Ohio Statehouse from a different perspective this Halloween season as you embark on a haunted tour of the building—if you dare! Combine history and legend in this special family-friendly haunted tour, which travels through dimly lit limestone corridors by lantern. This spooky tour features recently found evidence of paranormal activity and is most appropriate for children ages 9 and up. Purchase your tickets for this unique historic tour with a Halloween twist!

 

Boo at the Zoo

Where: The Columbus Zoo

When: Weekends October 11-27, Fridays 5-9 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m.-9 p.m. & Sundays 10 a.m.-8 p.m.

This "merry-not-scary" Halloween event is a must for little ones of all ages! Go on a trick-or-treating adventure at the Columbus Zoo on the weekends leading up to Halloween, stopping by various treat stations scattered throughout the zoo. Make sure you catch the animals smashing pumpkins, which is a favorite amongst guests each year! Admission to Boo at the Zoo is included with your membership or paid admission to the zoo.

 

Halloween Pet Parade and Fall Festival

Where: Easton Town Center

When: October 20, 12-3 p.m.

Make sure your fur baby isn't left out of the fall fun! Dress your dog in their best costume and head to Easton Town Center for a special Halloween Pet Parade and Fall Festival. Costumes will be judged and awards are given based on a number of categories, including Best Group, Best Duo, Cutest, Funniest, Most Creative and Scariest. Free registration begins at noon and the parade kicks off at 2 p.m.!

 

HighBall Halloween

Where: Short North, Columbus

When: October 11-12, Times TBD

Head to the vibrant Short North Arts District for a Halloween party unlike any other! HighBall Halloween is considered one of the nation's most elaborate costume parties, bridging runway style with the culture of this lively area. This festive weekend attracts over 40,000 costumed participants in a celebration of costumes and creativity. The party is taking place along High Street between Goodale Street and Nationwide Boulevard.

 

Creepside Festival

Where: Creekside Park & Plaza, Gahanna

When: October 19, 11 a.m-3 p.m.

Don't miss the annual Creepside Festival two Saturdays before Halloween! This event is free and appropriate for all ages with a number of kid-friendly activities, including live music, games, a haunted trail, escape rooms, character interactions, pumpkin painting, trick-or-treating with local organizations, and more. Head to Creekside Park & Plaza in Gahanna for this exciting community event!

Ohio Made Holiday Market

Where: Hollywood Casino Columbus

When: November 15-16, Friday 6-10 p.m. & Saturday 12-7 p.m.

Kick-off your holiday shopping spree at one of the most popular craft fairs of the year! At the annual Ohio Made Holiday Market, over 80 vendors will be selling handcrafted, artisan goods as well as an assortment of wonderful gifts. VIP ticket holders will gain early access the market along with exclusive deals, drink specials and a raffle! You can purchase a ticket, and learn more about the participating vendors, here.  

Columbus Hungry Turkey 5K & 10K

Where: 333 West Broad Street When: November 30, 8:30 a.m. Give back to a cause you care about and get a free doughnut while you're at it! Don't miss the Columbus Hungry Turkey 5K a 10K, a running and walking event that takes place in the streets of downtown Columbus. All proceeds go towards supporting the Humane Society of Delaware County.  And if that wasn't enough to get you to join in—a few famous Buckeye Donuts will be waiting for you at the finish line!
